Counsel AI is a virtual medical practice that provides patients with on-demand, personalized medical advice from real physicians via a messaging-based platform. It aims to offer a low-barrier, convenient way for individuals to access healthcare guidance and support, similar to texting a doctor in the family. Counsel AI focuses on continuous, asynchronous communication, distinguishing itself from traditional telehealth services that primarily focus on scheduled appointments.
COUNSEL AI
From intake to documentation to decision support, Counsel uses frontier LLMs to lighten the clinician’s load. Counsel AI acts like a resident who takes the first pass: asking history questions, summarising the chart, and surfacing key info. It gets doctors to the decision point faster, and lets them focus on what matters most.
DESIGN DETAILS
User Onboarding - Highlighting Counsel AI's core value propositions and how they can help users better compared to other services. The onboarding collects the user's data and connects Counsel with user's medical records.
Core Chat Interface after work hours - The AI Chat needed instruction on how to respond to users who requested for doctors outside their operating hours. The messaging and actions taken differed according to emergency versus non-emergency cases.
Account Panel information - Shows user their medical records alongside AI's sources (user description of symptoms, chat history with doctors, medical papers) for their diagnosis. This page includes a summary of the user's overall health, their existing conditions, medications, allergies, lab/test results, surgeries, and the care team assigned to them.
Health Insights - Prompts the user to have more conversations with the AI. This page gives health topic prompts for the AI ('What does an ideal healthy person look like to you?'), and a summary of user's top goals, recent concerns, lifestyle traits, and personal records.
AI thinking states - different states shown when the AI is formulating an answer (thinking, searching, reviewing your records). This happens in-chat with clickable headers that show the user more details, such as 'A new health insight has been added - click to read my mind.'
Referrals - test how users have meaningful engagement in their first interaction, driving longer term retention. Program structure revolved around monetary rewards, fraud mitigation, and entry points.
Startups landing page -
Unlock Your Health - Counsel has two big differentiation from Google and other health providers. Firstly, higher user personalisation and accuracy. Secondly, faster results and higher accessibility. This page aims to educate users on those points, and how their data can be actionable effectively.
Chronic Condition user flow - a UX flow inside the AI chat that describes what conditions the user is enrolled in and also structures entry into condition management.
Lab Ordering - AI chat explains the labs available to user, with a pop-up side bar that explains what each lab does ('What should you use a cardiometabolic panel for?'). A payment module appears in the chat if the user confirms the lab request (payment details, success state, collapsed state).
Active Programs - UI showing the user which active programs they are enrolled in, lab test status, and if action are needed from the user.
